1992 Mercedes 500 SL Cabriolet

The SL series premiered at the Geneva Motor Show around 30 years ago. With the luxurious roadster models, Mercedes created a success story, especially the Mercedes SL 500 is considered one of the best star cars of all time! The ingenious technology, the timelessly beautiful design and the powerful five-liter V8 make the ultimate status symbol of the 90s initially the bestseller in the series and now one of the most sought-after German classics.

The technology of the SL is impressive, then as now. While the electrically adjustable integral seats, the automatic roll bar (folds out in 0.3 seconds) or the ADS adaptive damping system (adjusts the chassis to the current driving situation) were world firsts at the premiere, one feature is still fascinating today: the standard hardtop unlocks automatically, releases the hydraulic fabric roof at the push of a button. If you press this button again, the aluminum hardtop reconnects to the chassy. In addition to the technical innovations, the SL scored particularly well with its design in the early 90s.
