1978 Porsche 911 SC – G-model
With the introduction of the 1974 model year, the revised form of the original Porsche 911 model found its way into the sports car manufacturer’s model range. The vehicle called the “G-Model” heralded a new era at Porsche and was to shape the 16 years leading up to the start of the 964 in 1989 with a lot of history.
1978 paves the way for the Porsche 911 SC – the G-model (rather “G-series” after Porsche’s internal model name) rolled off the assembly line until mid-1989. Porsche has reduced its model range to a manageable number of two models: the Porsche 930 Turbo and the Porsche 911 SC, the SC being short for “Super Carrera”.
The 911 SC sprints from 0 to 100 km / h in not much more than 7 seconds and only slowly and finally takes a breather at a top speed of around 225 km / h. In view of the time – we are in 1978 – this value is still an impressive statement in 2021. The SC is just a convincing athlete.
This neat model left the Porsche factory in June 1978. In the years since its market launch, the price of the Porsche 911 SC has constantly developed in one direction: upwards.
